Bone Conduction Implants
BONEBRIDGE - The First Active Bone Conduction Implant
The BONEBRIDGE, the world's first active bone conduction implant system, can be an effective solution for individuals with lasting hearing loss following a middle ear operation, malformations, or generally for conductive hearing loss and mixed hearing loss. It is also an option for individuals with single-sided deafness.
With conductive or mixed hearing loss, sound cannot take the natural path through the outer and middle ear to the inner ear. With the BONEBRIDGE, the sound waves are transmitted via bone conduction directly to the inner ear, where they are processed as natural sound. The BONEBRIDGE ensures optimal daily hearing performance while remaining discreet and unobtrusive.
This visually-appealing system consists of the SAMBA, an externally worn audio processor, and a surgically-inserted bone conduction implant (BCI 601) that lies directly beneath the skin. The compact audio processor can be worn discreetly beneath the hair.
Benefits of the BONEBRIDGE
Intact Skin
The implant sits entirely beneath intact skin, so the risk of skin complications is greatly reduced. This eliminates the need for further follow-up appointments regarding skin treatment, so your child can fully benefit from their BONEBRIDGE hearing implant system.
Gentle Surgery
BONEBRIDGE surgery usually lasts between 30 and 60 minutes as it is a minimally invasive surgical procedure. No further surgical intervention is required afterwards as all replaceable parts of the BONEBRIDGE are located in the external audio processor.
Simple Handling
The BONEBRIDGE system is designed to be comfortably worn and easily operated, making it ideal for your child to wear. The external audio processor is compact and simple to use. It is worn on the head behind the ear, so the ear canal remains open for greater wearing comfort. Depending on use, the battery lasts for approximately 5 days, which means your child doesn't have to worry about carrying spare batteries with them all the time. And when they need to change the battery they will find it easy to do so themselves.
Streamlined Design
The implant technology has been developed so that the stimulating part sits directly in the bone. Therefore the design of the audio processor is slimmer than ever before making it a comfortable choice for your child. Due to its innovative and flexible design, SAMBA was honored with the prestigious reddot design award.
MR Conditional
The implant of the BONEBRIDGE system is MR conditional up to 1.5 Tesla. This gives your child the opportunity to undergo MRI scans in the future, if required.
Latest Technology
The audio processor of the BONEBRIDGE is externally located, so it can always be upgraded to ensure your child benefits from the latest technology. Even years after implantation, your child can receive the newest audio processor, undergo a simple fitting and return home with the latest technology available.
